    PLYMOUTH, NH – After downing a formidable Wesleyan team on Wednesday, the Western Connecticut State University baseball team concluded the season with a doubleheader sweep at Little East Conference foe Plymouth State on Saturday afternoon. The Colonials edged the Panthers in the opener, 5-4, before rallying to capture the nightcap, 11-10. With the pair of wins, WestConn rebounded from a weather plagued first half and finished the regular season at 16-19 overall and 3-11 in league play.

    DANBURY, CT – After outmuscling Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham yesterday, the Western Connecticut State University baseball squad edged visiting non-conference foe Wesleyan University, 8-7, on Wednesday evening at Westside Field. Senior Clete LoRusso (New Milford, CT) led the Colonials with three hits which included a pair of doubles off the center field wall, while classmate relief pitcher Taylor Donofrio (Terryville, CT) cemented the win with his record-setting seventh save of the season.

    DANBURY, CT – Seniors Joel Luna (Queens Village, NY) and Zach Sagar (Trumbull, CT) racked up three hits apiece to lead the Western Connecticut State University baseball squad to a 14-8 victory over visiting non-conference opponent Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham on Tuesday afternoon at Westside Field. With the win, the Colonials improved to 13-19 overall, while the Devils dropped to 10-27.

    PROVIDENCE, RI – After erupting for 20 runs in a victory at Lehman College on Thursday, the Western Connecticut State University baseball squad plated 21 at Little East Conference opponent Rhode Island College on Saturday afternoon. The Colonials won the opener, 14-10, before being edged in the nightcap, 9-7. WestConn senior Clete LoRusso (New Milford, CT) and junior Kyle MacLean (Southington, CT) combined to rack up 12 hits and 14 RBI’s for the matinee.

    BOSTON, MA – The WestConn baseball team fell to 8-10 overall and 0-4 in Little East Conference play following a pair of losses at ninth-ranked UMass-Boston on Saturday afternoon. The games were originally slated to be played in Danbury but were shifted due to poor field conditions. The Colonials were edged in the opener, 3-1, before falling in the Game Two, 13-0.

The second game of the day wasn’t as kind for the Colonials as they fell to the Aggies, 15-0.

PIERCE, FL - After dropping a pair to Washington College to open the Spring trip on Sunday, the Western Connecticut State University baseball squad bounced back, sweeping a doubleheader against Gettysburg College on Monday's day-two action. Junior right-handed reliever Taylor Donofrio (Terryville, CT) entered to close out both games as the Colonials took the opener, 4-3, before winning the nightcap, 6-3.
  • Baseball Drops Doubleheader to Washington College in Spring Trip Opener

    FT. PIERCE, FL – After leading in each game, the Western Connecticut State University baseball team succumbed to a pair of rallies from Washington College in a doubleheader to open up the Spring Trip on Sunday. The Colonials led 1-0 late in the opener before the Shoremen scored runs in the sixth and seventh innings to earn a 2-1 win. In Game Two, WestConn was up 4-2 early before Washington rallied yet again to seize a 5-4 victory.

    ARLINGTON, VA – After opening the season with a victory over Marymount University on Saturday, the Western Connecticut State University baseball team returned to square off against the host Saints yet again in a doubleheader on Sunday. The Colonials erupted for a seven-run fifth inning en route to an 8-6 comeback victory in Game One before being held to just one hit in an 11-1 loss in Game Two.

The Colonials return to action to play another two games against the Saints on Sunday.
