  • Field Hockey Drops Heartbreaker to Lasell in Overtime, 3-2

    DANBURY, CT – Sophomores Jacalyn Doerwald (Washington Depot, CT) and Carly Matasavage (Middlebury, CT) each tallied goals as the Western Connecticut State University field hockey team dropped a heartbreaking overtime loss to visiting non-conference foe Lasell College, 3-2, on Tuesday night at The Westside Athletic Complex. With the loss, the Colonials dropped to 5-11 overall while the Lasers improved to 13-3.
  • Field Hockey Falls to Bridgewater State, 5-2, as McConnell and Redstone Honored on Senior Day

    DANBURY, CT – The Western Connecticut State University field hockey team fell to visiting Little East Conference foe Bridgewater State University, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon at The Westside Athletic Complex on Senior Day. Greta McConnell (Norwalk, CT) and Hannah Redstone (Washington, CT) were honored by the Colonials before the contest.
  • Neve Manion a double honoree by the Little East Conference

    PAWTUCKET, RI - Freshman goalie Neve Manion (Newington, CT) earned the coveted double honor from the Little East Conference this week. On Tuesday, she was named Field Hockey Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Week after Western Connecticut State University went 2-0 during the week ending on October 8.

    WESTFIELD, MA - Junior midfielder Carly Matasavage (Middlebury, CT) netted a goal and dished out a pair of assists as the Western Connecticut State University field hockey team fell at conference foe Westfield State, 6-3, on Tuesday night. With the loss, the Colonials dropped to 5-8 overall and 4-4 in LEC play, while the Owls improved to 5-6 and 4-3. 
  • Matthews Nets Game-Winner as Field Hockey Blanks Southern Maine, 1-0

    DANBURY, CT – Sophomore Morgan Matthews (Bethel, CT) took a feed from classmate Carly Matasavage (Middlebury, CT) and knocked the ball into the back of the cage for the eventual game-winning goal as the Western Connecticut State University field hockey team blanked visiting Little East Conference foe Southern Maine, 1-0, on Saturday at The Westside Athletic Complex to kick-off Homecoming weekend. With the win, the Colonials improved to 5-8 overall and 4-4 in league play, while the Huskies dropped to 4-9 and 3-4.

    DANBURY, CT – Sophomore Carly Matasavage (Middlebury, CT) notched a game-high two goals, while rookie Amanda Spano (Mahopac, NY) added a scoring strike as the Western Connecticut State University field hockey team edged visiting non-conference foe Manhattanville College, 3-2, Wednesday night at The Westside Athletic Complex. With the victory, the Colonials improved to 4-8 overall, while the Valiants dropped to 2-9.

With the loss, the Colonials dropped to 3-8 overall and 3-4 in league play, while the Panthers improved to 8-2 and 6-1.

    MANSFIELD, CT - Sophomore Morgan Matthews (Bethel, CT) scored a pair of goals, including the game-tying goal to send the game into overtime, but the Western Connecticut State University field hockey team fell at intra-state rival Eastern Connecticut State University, 4-3 on Wednesday afternoon.

    KEENE, NH - After falling to non-league foe Ramapo on Thursday, the Western Connecticut State University field hockey team suffered a 5-0 loss at Little East Conference opponent Keene State on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Colonials dropped to 3-6 overall and 3-2 in league play, while the Owls improved to 5-4 and 4-1.

    MAHWAY, NJ - Carly Matasavage (Middlebury, CT) and Kimberly Brower (Mahopac, NY) each scored a goal for the Western Connecticut State University field hockey team, but Ramapo College defeated non-conference rival Western Connecticut State University, 5-2 at the Athletic Center Turf Field.
  • Brower Notches Game-Winner as Field Hockey Blanks Fitchburg, 1-0
    September 19, 2017
    FITCHBURG, MA – Rookie Kimberly Brower (Mahopac, NY) took a feed from sophomore Morgan Matthews (Bethel, CT) and tallied the game-winning goal on a penalty corner as time expired in the first half to lead the WestConn field hockey team to a 1-0 victory at Little East Conference nemesis Fitchburg State on Tuesday night at Elliot Field. Rookie Neve Manion (Newington, CT) was stellar in net and earned the shutout win for the Colonials who improved to 3-4 overall and 3-1 in conference league play. The Falcons fell to 2-3 and 0-3.

    DANBURY, CT – Sophomore Morgan Matthews (Bethel, CT) tallied two goals including the game-winner in overtime to lead the Western Connecticut State University field hockey team to a thrilling 3-2 overtime win over visiting Little East Conference foe Salem State University on Saturday afternoon at The Westside Athletic Complex. With less than two minutes remaining in the extra session, Matthews streaked down the left side to gather a pass from classmate Carly Matasavage (Middlebury, CT). She then broke in alone, faked a shot, scurried around the sprawled out goalkeeper and blasted a shot into the open side of the cage, sending the crowd into a frenzy as the Colonials improved to 2-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
  • Kimberly Brower and Morgan Matthews lead WestConn field hockey over UMass Dartmouth

    DANBURY, CT - Freshman Kimberly Brower (Mahopac, NY) and sophomore Morgan Matthews (Bethel, CT) scored their first goals for the Western Connecticut State University field hockey team and the Colonials went on to defeat the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, 2-1 in the Little East Conference opener for both clubs on Thursday night.

    DANBURY, CT – After being edged at Regis on Friday, the Western Connecticut State University field hockey team was downed in its home-opener, falling to William Paterson University, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon at The Westside Athletic Complex. Despite taking the tough loss and dropping to 0-2 overall, Colonials rookie goalkeeper Neve Manion (Newington, CT) made several highlight reel worthy saves, finishing with eight. Junior netminder Mallory Rickerhauser (Lumberton, NJ) earned the win for the Pioneers, recording a trio of saves to move to 1-1.
