  • Men’s Soccer Bows to 19th-Ranked Brandeis in NCAA Tournament First Round, 3-0

    WALTHAM, MA – The Western Connecticut State University men’s soccer team fell to 19th-ranked Brandeis in the NCAA Division III National Tournament first round on Saturday afternoon at Gordon Field. With the loss, the Colonials outstanding season comes to an end at 14-7-1 overall, while the Judges improved to 14-4 and advanced to the second round where they will square up against the winner of Rutgers-Newark/Bowdoin on Sunday.

Junior forward Chauncey Allers (Wilton, CT) and head coach Joe Mingachos reeped top honors as Offensive Player of the Year and Coach of the Year, respectively.

    DANBURY, CT - The 2017 Little East Conference Men's Soccer semifinals at the Westside Athletic Complex on Wednesday night could not be decided after 110 minutes as Western Connecticut State University and Keene State College finished deadlocked at 1-1.  The Colonials advanced to the LEC title match after out dueling the Owls, 4-3 in the shootout.

    DANBURY, CT – Senior midfielder Nick Kyriakidis (Sleepy Hallow, NJ) notched the game-winning goal with less than four minutes remaining in double overtime to lead the Western Connecticut State University men’s soccer team to a thrilling 1-0 victory over visiting Little East Conference foe UMass-Boston on Saturday afternoon. With the regular season finale win, the Colonials captured the No. 1 seed in the LEC Postseason Tournament and will host fourth-seeded Keene State on Wednesday at a time to be determined.

    PAWTUCKET, RI - Chauncey Allers (Wilton, CT), Daniel Szabo (Trumbull, CT) and Mikey Sciortino (Shelton, CT) have been named honored by the Little East Conference for outstanding performances last week. Allers was named LEC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight week while Szabo took Goalkeeper of the Week honors. Sciortino was named Rookie of the Week.

    DANBURY, CT – After suffering four single goal losses earlier this season, the Western Connecticut State University men’s soccer team found itself on the winning end on Wednesday night as they blanked visiting non-league foe Purchase College, 1-0, at The Westside Athletic Complex. Colonial senior midfielder Nick Kyriakidis (Sleepy Hallow, NJ) tallied the game-winning goal when he dribbled right to elude a defender and blasted a shot from the left wing into the top-right corner of the net in the 65th minute of play.

    NEW LONDON, CT – For the second consecutive contest, the Western Connecticut State University men’s soccer squad suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 loss. This time falling at non-conference foe Coast Guard on Tuesday night. With the loss, the Colonials dropped to 2-3 overall, while the Bears earned their third-straight shutout victory, improving to 3-1.
