    PAWTUCKET, RI - Western Connecticut State University freshmen Brooke Baldelli (New Fairfield, CT) and Charline Plasczynski (Bristol, CT) have been named Little East Conference Women's Lacrosse and Softball Rookies of the Week, respectively, for the week ending April 23.

    KEENE, NH – After splitting a doubleheader league matchup against Plymouth State yesterday, the Western Connecticut softball team split yet another twinbill at Little East Conference foe Keene State on Sunday. The Colonials suffered a heartbreaking extra inning loss in the opener, 7-6. However, they rebounded to down the Owls in Game Two, 4-2.

    DANBURY, CT - The Western Connecticut State University softball team came from behind to capture the opener, 7-6, then dropped the nightcap, 9-6, to Plymouth State University on Senior Day at Westside Field on Saturday.

    DANBURY, CT – After sweeping a doubleheader against conference rival Rhode Island College on Tuesday night, the Western Connecticut State University softball team downed visiting non-league foe Trinity College, 6-2, on a soggy Wednesday night at Westside Field. With the win, the Colonials improved to 14-13 overall, while the Bantams dropped to 17-10.

    PROVIDENCE, RI – The WestConn softball team improved to 13-13 overall and 5-1 in league play following a doubleheader sweep at Little East Conference foe Rhode Island College on Tuesday evening.   • Jenna Gaudioso belts two home runs in doubleheader split with Southern Maine

    DANBURY, CT - Junior right fielder Jenna Gaudioso (East Haven, CT) went 5-for-8 with two home runs and three runs batted in as the Western Connecticut State University softball team split it doubleheader with University of Southern Maine, dropping the opener 8-4 before blanking the Huskies, 8-0 in five innings of the nightcap at Westside Field on Saturday afternoon.
  • Softball Drops Pair at Staten Island

    STATEN ISLAND, NY - The WestConn softball team dropped to 10-12 overall following a pair of losses at the College of Staten Island on Friday afternoon. The Colonials gave up just one run in the opener. However, that was all the host Dolphins would need en route to a 1-0 win. In Game Two, the hosts downed WestConn, 13-0.
  • Charlien Plasczynski belts fourth homer of the season, but Colonials drop a pair to New Paltz

    DANBURY, CT - Freshman shortstop Charlie Plasczynski hit a three-run home run, her fourth round tripper of the season, but it was not enough to fend off visiting SUNY New Paltz on Wednesday night at Westside Field. The Hawks came back to capture the opener, 7-6 then blanked the Western Connecticut softball team, 3-0 in the nightcap.

    NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA - Strong pitching by freshman Angelina Miller (Holbrook, NY) and sophomore Jaclyn Smith (Sandwich, MA) and timely hitting by shortstop Charline Plasczynski (Bristol, CT), who went 4-for-9 and drove in four runs, helped the Western Connecticut State University softball sweep University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, 4-3 in 10 innings and 7-3, in the Little East Conference opening weekend for both clubs on Sunday.

    BETHEL, CT - Junior Jenna Gaudioso (East Haven, CT) went 4-for-6 and scored two runs on the night, but the Western Connecticut State University softball team dropped both games of its double header to Mount St. Mary College, 13-8 and 4-3, at Joe Freebairn Field on Thursday night.

    CLERMONT, FL - The WestConn softball team improved to 8-6 overall following a pair of wins to wrap up its spring trip on Thursday. The Colonials downed North Park in Game One, 9-3, before edging Smith, 6-4, in the finale. Rookie outfielder Natalia Hart (Milford, CT) went 2-for-3 with a trio of RBI's in the opener, while classmate catcher Kam Geysen (East Hampton, CT) smacked three doubles with an RBI in Game Two.

    LEESBURG, FL - The Western Connecticut State University softball team bounced back with a pair of victories on Wednesday, defeating Wesleyan University, 8-6 and Olivet College, 8-4 at Sleepy Hollow Softball Complex.

    CLEMONT, FL - The Western Connecticut State University softball team suffered back-to-back shut outs on Monday morning. As the sun came up over the horizon, the Colonials fell to Arcadia University, 8-0 in six innings. They dropped a 12-0 five-inning decision to Washington University of St. Louis in the daycap.

    CLERMONT, FL - After sweeping a doubleheader to start its Florida trip yesterday, the Western Connecticut softball team fell to St. Benedict, 6-3, on Sunday afternoon. Rookie shortstop Charline Plasczynski (Bristol, CT) paced the Colonials with a pair of RBI's to go along with a run scored. WestConn was downed by St. Mary's (IN) in the nightcap, 9-3.
  • Softball Takes Doubleheader Over New England and Rutgers-Newark in Florida

    CLERMONT, FL - The Western Connecticut softball team opened up its Florida trip with a pair of wins on Saturday. In Game One, rookie hurler Sara Tenke (Glen Cove, NY) earned the victory for the Colonials en route to a 4-2 edging of the University of New England. In Game Two, classmate Angelina Miller (Holbrook, NY) pitched WestConn to a 7-3 win over Rutgers-Newark, while Tenke picked up a save in relief. With the pair of victories, the Colonials improved to 4-2 overall.

    NORFOLK, VA - The Western Connecticut State University softball team heads back to Connecticut with a 2-2 record after splitting its two games on Saturday at the Beach Blast in Norfolk, VA, defeating Rochester Institute of Technology, 6-5, before falling to Rowan, 18-4 in five innings.

    PAWTUCKET, RI - The Western Connecticut State University softball team, the defending league champions, has been picked third in the 2017 Little East Conference Pre-Season Coaches Poll, released on Friday. The Colonials open the season at the Beach Blast in Virginia Beach, VA on Friday and Saturday, March 3 and 4.

    DANBURY, CT - The Western Connecticut State University Athletic Department, behind graduating senior Celia DeVoe (Farmington, CT), and WestConn Student Athletic Advisory Council, are looking for your help. They along with several athletic programs around the Little East Conference and the northeast are running a Marrow Donor Registry Drive. WestConn's will be held on Thursday, March 2 from 10 am to 2 pm at the Midtown Campus Student Center.
