DANBURY, CT - Western Connecticut State University junior guard Jancy Sherwood (Poughquag, NY) learned on Wednesday that she was a champion. The NCAA confirmed that the sharp-shooting guard led the nation in three-point shots made, attempted and made per game, this past season.
Sherwood finished her third season with an average of 4.61 three-point field goal made per contest for the 11-15 Colonials, leading all of Division III. She also led the nation with 106 three-pointers made and 318 long-distance shots attempted in her third campaign.
On the season, Sherwood led the team and Little East Conference with a 19.9 scoring average.
As a team, the Colonials led the nation in the same three categories, 12.3 made per game, 319 three-pointers made and 1,252 attempts beyond the arc. WestConn also led Division III with 34.96 forced turnovers per contest this past winter.
