  • WestConn Athletics Reaching Out To Help An Opponent

    DANBURY, CT - The Western Connecticut State University Athletic Department, behind graduating senior Celia DeVoe (Farmington, CT), and WestConn Student Athletic Advisory Council, are looking for your help. They along with several athletic programs around the Little East Conference and the northeast are running a Marrow Donor Registry Drive. WestConn's will be held on Thursday, March 2 from 10 am to 2 pm at the Midtown Campus Student Center.

    AUSTIN, Texas – Western Connecticut State University senior outside hitter Karissa Smith (Bristol, CT) headlines the 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division III Volleyball Team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Smith was named to the Third Team this fall.

Colonials' head coach Don Ferguson has been named Coach of the Year by his peers.

    DANBURY, CT - Western Connecticut State University senior outside hitter Karissa Smith (Bristol, CT) has been named to the CoSIDA District 2 All-Academic Women's Volleyball Team. She has a perfect 4.0 grade-point average and will graduate with a Psychology degree in May.
  • Third-Seeded Women's Volleyball Season Ends With 3-0 Loss at Second-Seeded Plymouth State in LEC Semifinals

    PLYMOUTH, NH - After downing No. 6 seed Southern Maine on Tuesday night, the third-seeded Western Connecticut women's volleyball team saw its season come to an end with a 3-0 (24-26, 20-25, 22-25) loss at second-seeded Plymouth State in the LEC Semifinals on Thursday night.   • Three Fall Teams Reach Little East Conference Tournament

    DANBURY, CT - The Western Connecticut State University men's and women's soccer and women's volleyball teams have qualified for the 2016 Little East Conference Post-Season Tournament. The champion of the LEC Tournament earns an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III National Championships.

    DANBURY, CT – Senior outside hitter Karissa Smith (Bristol, CT) notched a team-high 15 kills, while classmate Cady Cordes (Fallon, NV) and sophomore Kamari King (East Hartford, CT) each chipped in with 13 to lead the third-seeded Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball to a 3-1 (25-18, 17-25, 25-18, 25-22) win over visiting No. 6 seed Southern Maine in an LEC Postseason Tournament Quarterfinal match-up on Tuesday at Feldman Arena. With the win, the Colonials improved to 20-10 overall and advanced to the LEC Semifinals where they will meet second-seeded host Plymouth State on Thursday at 7 p.m.
  • Women's Volleyball Downs Unity & Southern Maine to Earn Third Seed in LEC Postseason Tournament

    GORHAM, ME - Senior outside hitter Karissa Smith (Bristol, CT) tallied 20 kills while sophomore Kamari King (East Hartford, CT) chipped in with 14 to lead the Western women's volleyball squad to a 3-1 win against host Southern Maine in an LEC opening tri-match. The Colonials returned to action later in the afternoon to down non-league foe Unity, 3-0. With the pair of wins, Western claimed the No. 3 seed in the LEC Postseason Tournament and will host sixth-seeded Southern Maine in a rematch on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
  • Women's Volleyball Edges LEC Rival Eastern, 3-1

    WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – In a match which featured 40 ties and 20 lead changes, the Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball team erased a late five point deficit in the first set and went on to a four-set Little East Conference decision over Eastern Connecticut State University Tuesday night at Francis E. Geissler Gymnasium.

    DANBURY, CT – Senior outside hitter Karissa Smith (Bristol, CT) tallied a match-high 18 kills, while classmate Jacqueline Kanuk (New Fairfield, CT) added some stellar serving to lead the Western Connecticut women’s volleyball squad to a 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-20) shutout win over visiting Little East Conference foe UMass-Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon at Feldman Arena. With the win, the Colonials improved to 16-10 overall and 2-3 in league play, while the Corsairs fell to 9-16 and 0-5.

    Worcester, Mass. – Clark University continued its hot play on Thursday evening, making quick work of visiting Western Connecticut State, 3-0, in non-league volleyball action. The win for the Cougars is not only their fifth straight and seventh in their last eight matches, but sends their home record to 9-0 this season.

    NORTON, MA - The Western women’s volleyball team improved to 14-9 overall following a pair of wins at a tri-match hosted by Wheaton College on Saturday afternoon. Senior outside hitter Karissa Smith (Bristol, CT) tallied a match-high 19 kills in a 3-0 victory over Western New England before flooring yet another match-high of 12 in a 3-0 win over the hosts.     PAWTUCKET, R.I. - The Little East Conference has seen its share of dominating programs over the last 30 years. The Western Connecticut State women’s volleyball program had one of the best championship runs in the history of the Little East, becoming the first program to win five straight Little East Conference volleyball championships between 1999- 2003.

    DANBURY, CT – Senior outside hitter Karissa Smith (Bristol, CT) racked up a match-high 15 kills, while sophomore Kamari King (East Hartford, CT) chipped in with 11 to lead the Western Connecticut women’s volleyball squad to a 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-18) win over visiting Little East Conference foe Rhode Island College Tuesday evening at Feldman Arena. The Colonials claimed their first league victory of the season, improving to 12-9 overall and 1-3 in the LEC, while the Anchorwomen dropped to 7-9 and 0-4.

    DANBURY, CT – After snapping a four-game losing skid on Thursday night, the Western Connecticut women’s volleyball team split a tri-match on Saturday afternoon, falling to LEC rival Keene State, 3-2 (21-25, 25-22, 25-16, 21-25, 15-7) in the opener before edging non-league opponent Bridgewater State, 3-1 (25-23, 25-17, 25-27, 25-17) to round out the action. Keene State outlasted Bridgewater State, 3-2 (25-23, 23-25, 25-21, 25-27, 15-11) in the second contest of the day.

    DANBURY, CT – The Western Connecticut women’s volleyball squad snapped a four-game losing skid with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-10, 25-19) shutout victory over visiting non-league foe John Jay College on Thursday evening at Feldman Arena. Senior outside hitter Karissa Smith (Bristol, CT) paced the Colonials with a match-high 18 kills, while senior setter Danielle Kaminsky (Southington, CT) dished out 24 assists.

    The Western Connecticut women's volleyball team dropped to 9-8 overall following a pair of losses at the Roger Williams Tournament on Saturday afternoon. The Colonials fell to the University of New England 3-1 (24-26, 25-21, 29-27, 25-22) before being edged by Coast Guard, 3-2 (25-22, 14-25, 23-25, 25-21, 17-15).

    DANBURY, CT – Despite match-highs of three solo blocks from rookie Alyssa Dam (Poughkeepsie, NY) and three service aces from senior Cady Cordes (Fallon, NV), the Western Connecticut women’s volleyball team fell to visiting non-conference foe New Paltz State, 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-20), Wednesday night at Feldman Arena. With the loss, the Colonials dropped to 9-5 overall, while the Hawks improved to 10-7.

    DANBURY, CT – The Western Connecticut women’s volleyball team moved to 9-4 overall after splitting a pair of matches against visiting LEC foe Plymouth State and non-conference opponent Worcester State on Saturday afternoon at Feldman Arena. The Colonials put up a tough fight but were edged in the opening match to the Panthers, 3-2 (25-21, 24-26, 25-23, 22-25, 15-12) before shutting out Worcester State, 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-21) to round out the days matches. Plymouth also downed the Lancers 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-16).

    BOSTON, Mass. – Led by Colleen Koen's (Centerville, Mass.) match-high 14 kills volleyball picked-up their first Little East Conference win of the year as they defeated Western Connecticut State University by the final of 3-0 Saturday afternoon in the Clark Athletic Center Gymnasium.

Senior Cady Cordes (Fallon, NV) and sophomore Kamari King (East Hartford, CT) paced the Colonials with seven kills apiece.

Classmate Cady Cordes (Fallon, NV) chipped in with eight kills, while sophomore Mikayla Aubry (Fresno, CA) floored six for the Colonials.
