  • King Leads Women’s Volleyball to Sweep Over Misericordia & St. Joseph’s

    PATCHOGUE, NY – WestConn junior outside hitter Kamari King (East Hartford, CT) tallied match-highs of 12 and 25 kills in a pair of non-conference victories over Misericordia and St. Joseph’s, respectively, on Saturday afternoon. The Colonials downed Misericordia 3-0 before upending St. Joseph’s, 3-1.

    PROVIDENCE, RI – The Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball team fell to 4-17 overall and 1-3 in Little East Conference play following a 3-0 (26-24, 25-13, 25-19) loss at Rhode Island College on Tuesday night. With the win, the Anchorwomen improved to 11-9 and 1-3.

    KEENE, NH – Junior outside hitter Kamari King (East Hartford, CT) tallied a match-high 11 kills as the Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball squad fell to WPI 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-12) in a tri-match hosted by Little East Conference foe Keene State on Saturday. She also notched a team-high nine floors as the Colonials were defeated by the Owls, 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-20).

    DANBURY, CT – Junior setter Jenna Skerritt (Wolcott, CT) dished out a match-high 18 assists as the Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball team fell to visiting non-conference opponent Wesleyan University, 3-0 (25-14, 25-7, 25-14) on Thursday evening at Feldman Arena. With the loss, the Colonials dropped to 4-14 overall, while the Cardinals improved to 13-1.

    POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – Junior outside hitter Kamari King (East Hartford, CT) tallied match-highs of 14 and 13 kills against Geneseo and Nazareth, respectively, as the Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at the Vassar College Tournament on Saturday. The Colonials dropped their opener to Geneseo, 3-0 (25-9, 25-20, 26-24) before falling to Nazareth, 3-0 (25-12, 25-19, 25-23) to round out the two-day competition.

    POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - Junior Kamari King (East Hartford, CT) tallied a match-high nine kills for Western Connecticut State University, while teammate Nicolina Chenard (Ardsley, NY) added six successful attacks to go with three digs. Freshman Ali Brochu (Winsted, CT) combined a team-best two service aces with five kills, and Jenna Pisano (Orange, CT) contributed with a team-best seven digs. However, the Colonials fell at the Vassar Tournament on Friday night, 3-0, to the host Brewers.

    NEW PALTZ, NY - Despite a match-high 12 kills from junior outside hitter Kamari King (East Hartford, CT), the WestConn women's volleyball team fell at non-conference opponent New Paltz, 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-19) on Wednesday evening. With the loss, the Colonials dropped to 4-10 overall, while the hosts improved to 9-7.

With the loss, the Colonials dropped to 4-9 overall and 1-1 in league play, while the Beacons improved to 5-6 and 2-0.
  • Women’s Volleyball Edges Southern Maine In LEC Opener Before Falling to Kean

    DANBURY, CT – Rookie Ali Brochu (Winsted, CT) tallied a team-high 13 kills, while junior Kamari King (East Hartford, CT) and rookie Nicolina Chenard (Ardsley, NY) chipped in with 12 and 11, respectively, to lead the Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball team to a thrilling 3-2 (25-23, 25-17, 22-25, 17-25, 15-13) victory over the University of Southern Maine in its Little East Conference opener at Feldman Arena on Saturday afternoon. The Colonials returned to action later in the day and fell to visiting non-league foe Kean University, 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-20). Kean would also down Southern Maine, 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-18).

    HARTFORD, CT – After splitting a tri-match on Saturday, the Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball team was downed at non-conference opponent Trinity (CT) College, 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-9), on Tuesday night. With the loss, the Colonials fell to 3-7 overall, while the Bantams improved to 3-1.

    NEW LONDON, CT – The Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball team moved to 3-6 overall following a split on Day Two of the Coast Guard Tournament hosted by Connecticut College on Saturday. The Colonials upended Worcester State, 3-1, in the morning match before falling to the host Camels in the afternoon match, 3-0.

Junior outside hitter Kamari King (East Hartford, CT) buried a match-high 12 kills in a 3-0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-22) victory over Nichols before doing the same in a hard fought 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 29-27) loss to Coast Guard in the nightcap.

With the loss, the Colonials dropped to 1-4 overall, while the Rams improved to 2-0.
  • Women’s Volleyball Earns Split to Conclude Colonial Invitational

    DANBURY, CT – After a pair of tough losses to begin the season on Friday, the Western Connecticut State University rebounded to earn a split on Day Two of the Colonial Invitational. Junior outside hitter Kamari King (East Hartford, CT) – who also earned All-Tournament honors – paced the hosts with a match-high 21 kills en route to a come-from-behind 3-2 (25-19, 21-25, 23-25, 25-12, 15-11) victory over Penn State-Berks. The Colonials would fall in the tournament finale to the Rochester Institute of Technology, 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-22). Wentworth Institute of Technology completed an undefeated run to capture the tournament crown, improving to 4-0 overall.

    DANBURY, CT – Junior outside hitter Kamari King (East Hartford, CT) notched a team-high eight kills in each contest as the Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball began 2017 play with a pair of losses at the hands of the Wentworth Institute of Technology and Simmons College as they hosted Day One of the Colonial Invitational. WestConn returns to action for Day Two when they square-off against Penn. State Berks on Saturday at 10 a.m.
