DANBURY, CT – Junior setter Jenna Skerritt (Wolcott, CT) dished out a match-high 18 assists as the Western Connecticut State University women's volleyball team fell to visiting non-conference opponent Wesleyan University, 3-0 (25-14, 25-7, 25-14) on Thursday evening at Feldman Arena. With the loss, the Colonials dropped to 4-14 overall, while the Cardinals improved to 13-1.
Senior outside hitter Sarah Swenson (Woodstock, CT) paced Wesleyan with a match-high 10 kills without committing an error, while rookie setter Grace Rose (Pacific Palisades, CA) finished with 14 assists. Junior outside hitter Kamari King (East Hartford, CT) led the Colonials with seven kills.
"We cannot commit as many unforced errors as we did against a team like Wesleyan and expect to win. We had our best night passing the ball this season, but we were surprised when our shots did not go down. Wesleyan has only one loss for a reason. We need to focus on preparing for our conference match on Saturday," said Colonials head coach Don Ferguson following the match.
WestConn returns to action for a tri-match at Little East Conference foe Keene State on Saturday at Noon. The Colonials will also square off against WPI later in the afternoon.
