FARMINGDALE, NY – After yesterday's dramatic overtime win at Worcester State, the Western Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team held off a late surge at Farmingdale State to record a 12-10 victory on Monday afternoon. Senior midfielder Lauren Bradshaw (Bethel, CT) paced the Colonials with seven points on three goals and four assists, while sophomore Caroline Galligan (Marshfield, MA) tallied four goals. Junior reigning Little East Conference Offensive Player of the Week Brooke Baldelli (New Fairfield, CT) chipped in with a hat trick and a pair of helpers.

WestConn sophomore goalkeeper Jennifer Sawicki (Westbury, NY) improved to 5-1 and finished with seven saves, while Farmingdale netminder Emily Rodier dropped to 1-3 and stopped 10 shots.

The Colonials netted the first four goals of the contest. Baldelli began the run less than three minutes into the opening quarter and Bradshaw wrapped up the flurry.

The visitors would lead 6-1 midway through the stanza and remain ahead 9-6 at the break.

WestConn opened the second half similar to the first. A three-goal run which included a pair of scoring strikes from Galligan extended the lead to 12-6 with just under 13 minutes remaining in regulation.

Farmingdale would counter with a four-goal run to keep the score close as WestConn escaped with the win, improving to 5-1 overall. The hosts dropped to 1-7.

The Colonials return to action when they host non-conference foe Manhattanville College on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
